Profile
The Press concentrates not only on the publishing of scientific literature but also on publications that propagate science and debate. Common to all books is their strong scholarly base.
The foremost task of the Press is to disseminate and make known the results of scientific research at the University of Aarhus, but the Press is also interested in publishing scientific work from other institutions.
With distributors in the United Kingdom and the United States, the Press places high priority on publications in the English language, but also publishes books in German and French. Apart from the USA and UK, publications from the Press are predominantly exported to Norway, Sweden, Finland, Holland and Germany.
Craftsmanship
For the Press the maintenance of a very high quality in graphic design, cover design, choice of paper, as well as quality of printing, is mandatory. This policy is believed to be important for upholding the good Danish tradition in book craftsmanship. The Press was honoured in 2004 and again in 2009 by receiving the "Forening for Boghaandværks Xylograf F. Hendriksens Medalje".
Books on commission
Aarhus University Press has a number of titles on commission from other publishers, among whom are: Carlsbergfondet, Nationalmuseet, Jysk Arkæologisk Selskab, Det Danske Institut i Athen, Forlaget Historia, Danmarks Miljøundersøgelser and Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium.
