Professions and professional development are on the agenda in educational policy. Teachers, social workers, and other educational professionals are required to become more professional. Governments, the professionals themselves, researchers, clients, and business represent different stakeholders that bring different interests into the formulation of what 'becoming more professional' may mean and entail.
